Grief, Loss & Life Changes Therapy
Understanding Grief, Loss & Life Changes
Grief can affect every part of life. Whether you are coping with bereavement, another significant loss or a major change in your circumstances, you may experience sadness, anger, guilt, anxiety, numbness or a sense that life no longer feels as it did before.
I provide compassionate online therapy for adults across the UK, offering space to explore your loss, understand the emotions you are experiencing and adjust to change at your own pace.
How Grief & Loss Can Affect Everyday Life
Grief does not follow a fixed timetable and can affect people in very different ways. You may find your emotions changing from one day to the next, or experience periods when your loss feels particularly intense or difficult to manage.
Bereavement and other significant losses can affect sleep, concentration, motivation, relationships and confidence. You may feel isolated from people who seem to have moved on, struggle with changes to your identity or daily routine, or find yourself questioning what life looks like now.
Common Experiences of Grief and Bereavement
There is no single right way to grieve. You may experience intense sadness, anger, guilt, anxiety or numbness, while at other times you may feel relatively okay. These changes can sometimes be confusing, particularly if your grief does not look or feel the way you expected it to.
You may also experience difficulties with sleep or concentration, withdraw from other people, feel overwhelmed by reminders of your loss or struggle with changes to your identity and sense of purpose. Grief can also bring complicated or conflicting emotions, particularly when a relationship or the circumstances surrounding a loss were difficult.
How Therapy Can Help With Grief & Loss
Therapy can provide a confidential space where you can talk openly about your loss without feeling that you need to protect other people, move on quickly or grieve in a particular way. It can help you make sense of difficult or conflicting emotions and understand how your loss is affecting different areas of your life.
Our work may include exploring feelings of sadness, anger, guilt or anxiety, adjusting to changes in relationships or identity, and finding ways to live alongside your loss while gradually rebuilding a sense of stability and meaning.
Support Through Major Life Changes
Not all significant losses involve bereavement. Separation, relationship changes, changes in health, retirement, redundancy, caring responsibilities or other major transitions can leave you feeling uncertain about who you are or what comes next.
Therapy can help you process the emotional impact of change, understand feelings of loss or uncertainty and explore what you need as you adjust to a different stage of life. The aim is not to rush you towards a solution, but to help you find greater clarity and a way forward that feels right for you.
