Menopause Therapy & Psychological Support

Support Through Perimenopause & Menopause

Menopause can affect far more than physical health. Changes in mood, anxiety, sleep, confidence, concentration and emotional wellbeing can influence relationships, work and the way you feel about yourself. For some women, these changes can feel particularly difficult when they appear alongside existing pressures or significant changes in life.

I provide professional online therapy and psychological support for adults across the UK who are experiencing the emotional impact of perimenopause and menopause. Therapy provides a confidential space to understand what you are experiencing, explore the factors affecting your wellbeing and develop ways of coping that are appropriate for you.

How Anxiety and Overthinking Can Affect Everyday Life

Anxiety and overthinking can affect concentration, sleep, relationships and your ability to make decisions. You might replay conversations, anticipate what could go wrong, seek reassurance or find yourself avoiding situations because they feel too difficult or unpredictable.

For some people, anxiety is experienced mainly through thoughts. For others, it can be very physical, with symptoms such as a racing heart, tension, nausea, breathlessness or a sense of panic. Sometimes it is difficult to identify a specific reason for feeling anxious at all.

How Menopause Can Affect Emotional Wellbeing

The emotional and psychological effects of menopause can sometimes be as difficult as the physical symptoms. Changes in hormones, sleep and energy levels can contribute to anxiety, low mood, irritability, loss of confidence and feeling less able to cope with pressures that previously felt manageable.

You may find yourself overthinking situations, becoming more emotionally reactive, struggling to concentrate or feeling unlike yourself. These changes can affect relationships, work and your sense of identity, particularly when you do not initially recognise that menopause may be contributing to how you feel.

Therapy provides space to explore what is happening without dismissing your experiences as “just hormones”. We can look at the different factors affecting your wellbeing, develop practical ways of managing difficult thoughts and emotions, and help you feel more confident navigating this stage of your life.

How Therapy Can Help During Menopause

Therapy can help you understand the interaction between menopause, your emotional wellbeing and the other pressures in your life. It offers a confidential space to talk openly about changes in mood, anxiety, confidence, relationships or identity without feeling that you have to minimise what you are experiencing.

Our work may include managing anxiety and emotional overwhelm, challenging unhelpful patterns of thinking, rebuilding confidence and exploring changes in relationships, work or your sense of self. I draw on mindfulness-based CBT, CBT and person-centred approaches, adapting therapy to your individual needs and circumstances.

The aim is not to treat menopause itself or replace appropriate medical care, but to support you with its psychological and emotional impact and help you navigate this stage of life with greater understanding and confidence.

Menopause Support in the Workplace

I am proud to have been invited to provide menopause and workplace wellbeing support for NHS staff through Public Health Press.

Working in healthcare can bring particular pressures, including long shifts, rotating patterns and high-pressure environments. When menopause symptoms such as poor sleep, anxiety, brain fog, changes in mood or reduced confidence are added, coping at work can become increasingly difficult.

These challenges are not limited to healthcare. Menopause can affect confidence, concentration, relationships with colleagues and the ability to manage workplace pressure across many different professions. Therapy provides a confidential space to explore the emotional impact of these changes and develop practical ways of protecting your wellbeing while navigating work and menopause.

Ready to Take the First Step?

Reaching out for support during perimenopause or menopause can feel difficult, particularly if you have spent a long time trying to manage changes in how you feel on your own. You do not need to know exactly what you need from therapy before getting in touch.

The free 30-minute introductory call gives you an opportunity to tell me a little about what you are experiencing, ask any questions and consider whether working together feels right for you.
