Men's Mental Health
Men can experience anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma and relationship difficulties in ways that are not always easy to recognise or talk about. You may be coping outwardly while feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, disconnected or under pressure to manage everything on your own.
I provide professional online therapy for men across the UK, offering a confidential space to talk openly about what is happening without judgement or expectation. Therapy can help you understand the difficulties affecting your wellbeing, recognise patterns that may be keeping you stuck and find practical ways to move forward.
Understanding Men's Mental Health
Men are often expected to cope with pressure, responsibility and difficult emotions without showing that they are struggling. This can make it harder to recognise when stress, anxiety, low mood or emotional exhaustion have begun to affect everyday life.
Difficulties may show up as irritability, withdrawing from other people, problems sleeping, loss of motivation, overworking or feeling constantly on edge. Some men find it easier to describe feeling stressed, angry or exhausted than to recognise anxiety or depression.
Therapy provides an opportunity to explore what is happening beneath these experiences and understand the pressures, emotions and patterns that may be contributing to how you feel.
Men's Mental Health Videos
I have created a series of short videos exploring some of the pressures and emotional difficulties that can affect men at different stages of life. They cover subjects including identity and ageing, relationships and divorce, fatherhood, financial pressure, burnout, anxiety, depression and the expectation to keep coping when things are difficult.
You can watch whichever topics feel relevant to you. You do not need to identify with every experience or watch the videos in order.
Navigating Men's Mental Health: Trauma and Self-Esteem
Reaching your 40s can bring unexpected questions about identity, confidence and where life is heading. You may have achieved many of the things you once worked towards and still find yourself wondering why you do not feel the way you expected to.
This video explores the emotional impact of those expectations and why questioning where you are in life does not mean you have failed.
Help with Low Confidence and Self-Esteem
Being a dad can bring constant responsibility, pressure and very little opportunity to switch off. When work, finances, relationships and family life all compete for attention, exhaustion can gradually become burnout.
This video explores how dad burnout can affect mood, patience, relationships and emotional wellbeing, and why recognising that you are struggling is not the same as failing as a father.
The Importance of Trauma and Post Traumatic Distress Disorder Therapy
Depression in men does not always look like sadness. It can appear as irritability, exhaustion, withdrawing from other people, losing interest in things or feeling increasingly disconnected from everyday life.
This video explores some of the less obvious signs of depression in men and why recognising changes in how you think, feel or behave can be an important first step towards getting support.
Divorce, Separation and Emotional Wellbeing
Divorce and separation can affect far more than a relationship. For men, the loss of a partnership may also bring changes to family life, identity, finances, friendships and the amount of time spent with children.
This video explores the emotional impact of divorce and why feelings such as grief, anxiety, anger, loneliness or loss of direction can sometimes be difficult to recognise or talk about.
How Seeing a CBT Therapist Can Help
Feeling responsible for providing, protecting or holding everything together can create significant psychological pressure. When your sense of worth becomes tied to being dependable or successful, admitting that you are struggling can feel particularly difficult.
This video explores how those expectations can contribute to stress, anxiety and burnout, and why constantly carrying responsibility without acknowledging your own needs can take a toll on emotional wellbeing.
The Psychological Impact of Financial Anxiety on Men
Financial pressure can affect much more than your bank balance. Worry about money, debt, job security or providing for others can lead to anxiety, shame, difficulty sleeping and a constant sense of being under pressure.
This video explores the psychological impact of financial anxiety on men and why money worries can become closely connected with confidence, identity and emotional wellbeing.
Recognising Trauma in Men
Depression is not always easy to recognise, particularly when it appears as irritability, exhaustion, loss of motivation, withdrawing from others or simply feeling unlike yourself.
This video explores why men may not immediately identify what they are experiencing as depression, and how expectations around coping, independence and keeping difficulties to yourself can make recognising when you need support harder.
Online Therapy Sessions
I provide online therapy for adults across the UK via secure video sessions or telephone, allowing you to access professional support from a private space without the additional pressure of travelling to appointments.
Sessions are 60 minutes and cost £70. I also offer a free 30-minute introductory call, giving you an opportunity to ask questions and decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.
Ready to Talk?
Reaching out for therapy can feel difficult, particularly if you are used to dealing with things on your own or find it hard to talk about how you are feeling. You do not need to wait until things reach crisis point or know exactly what you want to say before getting in touch.
The free 30-minute introductory call gives you an opportunity to tell me a little about what is happening for you, ask any questions and consider whether working together feels right for you.
