Trauma & PTSD Therapy
Understanding Trauma & PTSD
Trauma can affect how you think, feel and respond long after a difficult or distressing experience has passed. You may find yourself feeling constantly on alert, avoiding reminders of what happened, experiencing intrusive thoughts or memories, or struggling with anxiety, sleep and a sense of safety.
I provide compassionate, trauma-informed online therapy for adults across the UK, helping you understand your responses to trauma and work at a pace that feels manageable and appropriate for you.
How Trauma & PTSD Can Affect Everyday Life
Trauma can affect many areas of everyday life, sometimes in ways that are difficult to connect with the original experience. You may feel constantly alert to danger, find it difficult to relax or trust others, avoid particular situations or experience strong emotional or physical reactions to reminders of what happened.
Some people experience intrusive memories, nightmares, irritability, emotional numbness or difficulties with concentration and sleep. Others notice changes in relationships, confidence or the way they see themselves and the world around them.
Common Trauma & PTSD Responses
Trauma responses can vary considerably from person to person. You may experience intrusive thoughts or memories, nightmares or disturbed sleep, feeling constantly on edge, or strong emotional and physical reactions to reminders of what happened.
You might avoid particular people, places or situations, experience anxiety or panic, or find yourself feeling irritable, angry, emotionally numb or disconnected. Trauma can also affect concentration, memory, trust, relationships and intimacy, and may leave you struggling with feelings of guilt, shame or changes in how you see yourself.
How Therapy Can Help With Trauma & PTSD
Therapy can provide a safe and confidential space to explore how traumatic experiences continue to affect your thoughts, emotions, relationships and everyday life. The aim is not to force you to revisit difficult experiences before you are ready, but to help you understand your responses and develop ways of managing them more effectively.
Using an approach tailored to you, we can work on recognising triggers, managing anxiety and emotional responses, reducing patterns of avoidance and developing a greater sense of safety and control. Therapy can also help you explore changes in confidence, trust, relationships and how you see yourself following trauma.
Online Trauma & PTSD Therapy Across the UK
I provide online trauma and PTSD therapy for adults across the UK via secure video sessions or telephone. Online therapy allows you to access professional support from a private space without the additional pressure of travelling to appointments.
Sessions are 60 minutes and cost £70. I also offer a free 30-minute introductory call, giving you an opportunity to talk briefly about what is bringing you to therapy, ask questions and decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.
Ready to Take the First Step?
Reaching out for therapy after trauma can feel difficult, particularly if you have spent a long time trying to cope on your own or avoiding talking about what happened. You do not need to tell me everything during an introductory call or have the right words to explain how you feel.
The free 30-minute introductory call is simply an opportunity for us to talk, for you to ask any questions you have and to consider whether working together feels right for you.
